About

I make art in response to my lived experience of place and to the multiple narratives that make up our relationships to place. I work both in the studio and on site, using camera-less photography, painting, assemblage, collecting, weave and stitch. The materials I work with are key to rooting the work in place, and contribute to 'making meaning' within the work. I use natural, recycled and repurposed materials where ever possible, and the work is often made in collaboration with the 'more-than-human' aspects of site such as the wind, the sea or found materials.

In this era of climate breakdown and mass extinction, my responses to place inevitably try to articulate the complexity of our collective response to this lived reality. I work with multiple different ways of knowing place, including data driven knowledge, and my embodied experience of place (often experienced through walking or wild swimming). My practice is often research-led, and I have recently begun publishing and presenting papers related to my own work and that of other environmentally engaged artists. I am increasingly interested in place-related narratives of care and repair.
